| March 2010 Dr. Daniels Visits Guatemala Dr. Daniels recently made his first trip to the impoverished Central American nation of Guatemala in March, 2010. While there, Dr. Daniels was part of a team of dentists, physicians, and assistants that treated over 250 patients. Many of these patients, who were mostly of indigenous Mayan ancestry, did not have access to proper dental care and many had never seen a dentist before in their lives. “Having an experience like this makes you feel so great to help those in such need. Being in Guatemala, really opened my eyes to how fortunate we are to live in the United States” says Dr. Daniels. Dentistry for All was founded in 1995 by a Pediatric Dentist from Calgary. All participating dentists donated their time and services to provide treatment to those unable to access care. Each participant funded his or her own way to Guatemala and Dr. Daniels raised funds and collected donated supplies to bring with him to Guatemala. Over the course of the last 15 years, Dentistry For All has sent approximately 300 volunteers who have worked nearly 100 volunteer weeks, treating individuals in some of the most remote and poor communities of the world — where dental care is either non-accessible or simply unaffordable for those who need it most.
